As 2015 comes to a close it’s time to reflect on a year that has been a busy one for us creatively, as we spent much of it locked away writing and recording the next album!
We began the year with our first session at Modern World Studios, reunited with the one and only producer/seducer Mr Greg Haver and Super Sound Engineer Clint Murphy. This was a busy session where we recorded 7 brand new songs and experimented with new sounds which I am desperate for you all to hear!
Moving into spring we had the small matter of a wedding to attend as our very own Paul Muir married his missus up in Scotland, but not before us Albany Down boys spent a weekend partying in Prague on his stag do! Many a beer was consumed, including one which claimed to be the strongest in the world which didn’t bother us one iota!
During the summer we spent another writing weekend at Mayfair Studios in Churt, where we locked ourselves away for an intense writing session, but not before we played the roaring Red Lion in Gravesend, fast becoming one of the best live venues in the UK. The festival we played here in the summer had a stellar line up, can’t wait to play this one again!
We ended the summer with our first ever headline tour in Europe which took in venues across the Netherlands, Germany alongside an exclusive live radio appearance at Radio Veronica. We also got to travel to Spain to play at the Calella rock festival, which was enormous fun. Any gig that ends with Jack Daniels and a three euro kebab is alright with me!
We concluded our stint in Europe and returned to the UK for some festival slots. The Whitby and Blackburn Blues Festivals were great fun, not just for the crowds, but also for the friends we made, the awesome young blues outfit Red Butler being one of them! We ended Autumn with a couple more gigs, one being our own headline show in Doncaster and the other one with our good friend Chantel McGregor up in Carlisle. Then right before we headed back to Modern World Studio for a second time, we played an awesome show at the stables in Milton Keynes.
Back at the studio, we reunited once again with Greg and Clint to record the final 5 tracks. Felt like we pushed the envelope even further this time than the session earlier in the year. Each song we recorded in this session quickly became stand out tracks for me on the album and as I said before, I am desperate to get it inside your ears!
Into the final stretch of the year, we had a couple more shows, one being back at the Red Lion which was once again awesome! Then another back at The Horn in St Albans which we hadn’t played in years. This was a Christmas party gig, so naturally this meant a rendition of ‘Let It Snow’ was on the cards! Add to that the awesome snow machine Rupert brought along – twas indeed a white Christmas!
All in all this year has been an intensely creative one, one that will bear its fruits in 2016 when we finally release the album! I hope everyone has a very happy New Years and everyone has good luck and good health in 2016! Thank you all once again for your continued support in our rocking endeavours! It is always appreciated and pushes us on to be the best that we can be! Happy New Year!
